Islam and the Divine Comedy

Description

The author’s most important discovery was the influence of Islamic models on Dante’s Divine Comedy, the poem which symbolized the whole culture of medieval Christianity. His theory is that the writing of Ibn al-Arabi in particular formed the basis of Dante’s poem and he proceeded to how how fundamental Muslim legends of the nocturnal journey and the ascension of the Prophet appear in Dante’s writings.
